Professional: Retirement
Retirement took me a while. I officially retired from my tenured position at RIT in the summer of 2013. At that point I stopped teaching and working full-time. I switched to a research faculty position and continued at about half-time for 4 more years with most of my time focused on our support for the Landsat Program and working with several doctoral students. In the summer of 2014 the Center threw me a grand retirement party (perhaps to encourage my departure) that is captured in a video below which features a recreation of the talk I gave superimposed on some great pictures of the attendees. As I was finally wrapping things up in 2017 RIT named me the faculty Ritiree of the year and young doctor Ientilucci caught RIT President Bill Destler’s comments as well as mine in the second video (tap on images to open video in another window).
