Stomping Ground: April-May 2021
We returned to camp with a fully vaccinated crew for two very productive weeks. Maury Schott joined us for 2 plus weeks and installed FRP in the Kitchen, Ernie and Cindy came for several days, and Kathy Hall came to paint, clean, and cook. With a crew of 10 or more every night Pam got drafted to cook week night dinners on top of painting and cleaning. The pictures below capture just a hint of all the activities that took place over two very busy weeks.
The biggest event of this visit was watching the "Getaway" move from across the road onto Camp property. Here it is lifted off old foundation and ready to move.
Moving onto road. Note the guy holding things up under the building.

Moving down the main road to camp (24 x 40 foot building).
Piers to support the Getaway which will be used as the infirmary.
Inching the Getaway into place.
John spent several days putting electrical into Banker which Jesse and Stephen had finished gutting a couple weeks earlier.

Cindy D. painting upper part of kitchen.
Ernie D. laying down on job (converting driers to propane), John and Maury consulting on how to install plastic panels (FRP) to lower kitchen walls.
We all got to celebrate Cindy's birthday.
Ernie helped Maury get started with FRP. Maury would continue to finish the 75% of Kitchen the scouts had left undone.
Maury spent his first couple days helping get the new garden fencing up.

Upstairs in barn after wall removed by volunteers, electric restored and lighting installed.

Kathy painting floor.
Pam carefully painted Laura's rainbow stairs in the barn.

Can anyone say mad scientist?
Laundry up and running with converted propane driers, exhaust manifold and booster fan.
Jack and John shoring up the getaway after the move.
Jack, Dylan and Ray got interior walls in place in getaway.

Installing double screens in the dinning hall (repurposed and rebuilt from some of the mini-cabin doors that couldn't be used due to covid).
While we were all working up above Jack had hired an Amish crew to get 4 more cabins built down the hill in time to be ready for campers. With no Covid guidance yet from the State Jack was expecting more room would be needed for each camper, so more cabins were needed in a hurry.
3 of the 4 new Amish cabins in various stages of construction.
Siding up waiting on trusses.
